Östergötland County

Golf in Östergötland County

Golf in Östergötland stretches from the Omberg area in the west to Bråviken Bay in the east, with Motala, Linköping and Kisa marking very different stops in between. The county does not rely on one course pattern. Some clubs keep all 18 holes on one route, others divide the round among named loops, and several place smaller courses beside their complete 18-hole courses. The result is a county where both landscape and the way the holes connect can guide the choice.

Ombergs Golf Resort has an 18-hole course and four separate practice holes in Ödeshög Municipality. Farther north, Motala Golf Club divides its outdoor golf among Park, Skog and Hed, three nine-hole loops that can be paired for a full round. Park crosses partly undulating ground and includes several raised greens. Skog enters a hillier woodland setting, while Hed has a more open heath character. Choosing two loops changes the scenery encountered across the 18 holes.

The Linköping area brings three course models close together. Linköping Golf Club has one 18-hole course near the city centre. At Bogestad, Landeryd Golf Club has two full courses, Masters and Classic, plus the seven-hole SkandiaMäklarslingan. Northwest of the city, Vreta Kloster Golf Club has separate courses of 18, nine and six holes. Within one part of the county, golfers can therefore find a single full route, a choice between two 18-hole courses, or a progression from long to short golf.

Bråviken Golf Club arranges 27 main holes as the Röd, Vit and Gul loops, with streams and other watercourses recurring through the terrain. A separate short course adds eight par-three holes. Mauritzbergs Slott & Golf also lies by the bay, yet its 18 holes remain together as one parkland and woodland course shaped by ponds, streams and changes between open and tree-lined ground. Southern Östergötland adds Björndal, Kinda Golf Club's nine-hole outdoor course in Kisa, and Golfhallen as a separate indoor golf venue. From a self-contained nine-hole course to combinable loops and clubs with several full and short courses, Östergötland supports many lasting ways to choose a round.

Motala Golfklubb

Motala Golf Club builds its rounds from three named nine-hole loops: Park, Skog and Hed. Park crosses partly undulating parkland and includes several raised greens. Skog enters hillier woodland, while Hed has a more open heath character. Any two loops can be combined for 18 holes, allowing the chosen pairing to change the landscapes encountered during the round. Each loop can also stand as a nine-hole course of its own, giving Motala considerable variety without obscuring how the courses fit together.

Bråvikens Golfklubb

Bråviken Golf Club divides its 27 main holes among the Röd, Vit and Gul loops, with nine holes in each. Two loops can be joined for a longer round, while streams and other watercourses recur through the varied terrain and around the large greens. Separate from that three-loop system is an eight-hole par-three course. Bråviken therefore supports both a full round assembled from named sections and a much shorter course with a character of its own.

Mauritzbergs Slott & Golf

Mauritzbergs Slott & Golf follows one 18-hole course beside Bråviken Bay. The round moves between parkland and woodland, alternating tighter tree-lined passages with more open ground. Ponds and streams make water a recurring part of the course as well as the wider view towards the bay. All 18 holes stay on one route, unlike the combinable nine-hole loops at nearby Bråviken Golf Club. At Mauritzberg, the shifts between open and wooded settings carry the variety from start to finish.

Ombergs Golf Resort

Ombergs Golf Resort in Ödeshög Municipality has an 18-hole course and four separate practice holes. The main course carries the complete round, while the practice holes remain apart from it. All 18 course holes belong together, and the four additional holes are not another loop that must be combined with them. In western Östergötland, Omberg therefore provides a natural counterpart to Motala's selectable nine-hole loops.

Kinda Golfklubb

Björndal is Kinda Golf Club's nine-hole outdoor course in Kisa. The nine holes form the entire round rather than a loop waiting to be paired with another section. Its smaller scale sets Björndal apart from the county's larger clubs with several courses and gives southern Östergötland an outdoor round of its own. Kinda Golf Club is also connected with Golfhallen in Kisa, but the indoor venue is a separate place from Björndal.

Golfhallen

Golfhallen in Kisa is a separate indoor golf venue connected with Kinda Golf Club. It is not located at Björndal, the club's nine-hole outdoor course, and the two places serve different roles. Golfhallen brings the game indoors without a numbered outdoor course, while Björndal is the setting for the round outside. On the map, Golfhallen appears as Kisa's indoor option rather than as another loop beside Björndal.
