Golf in Västerbotten County

Farther inland, Gunnarn Golf Club uses nine greens for both nine- and 18-hole rounds. Different tees alter the angles on the longer circuit without adding another set of greens. Åsele Golf Club places nine holes in Lapland woodland beside the winding Ångermanälven River, where trees narrow the playing corridors and the river defines the setting. At Bjurholm, 18 holes cross undulating ground marked by streams, ponds and deep ravines before the view opens across the Öreälven valley later in the round.

The distinctions are practical as well as scenic. Skellefteå and Holmsund suit players who value combinable loops, while Sörfors, Bjurholm and Norrmjöle each carry one continuous 18-hole round through a distinct landscape. Gunnarn and Åsele show how nine holes can feel complete when farmland, forest or river gives the course a strong setting. From Rönnbäcken and the Öreälven valley to Norrmjöle's pine heath, the surroundings give golfers a genuine reason to choose one part of Västerbotten over another.
