Golf in Jönköping County

Golf in Jönköping County passes through several distinct versions of the Småland landscape. Courses sit on sandy ground, within close woodland, across more open parkland and beside major lakes and rivers. These are not superficial changes of scenery. The contours, trees and water shape the pace of each course, ranging from broad lines over rolling terrain to holes enclosed within their own wooded spaces.

Sand Golf Club near Bankeryd shows most clearly how the ground itself can define a course. Its inland links is built on naturally sandy soil, where open contours and exposed sandy areas belong to the character of the site. Visingsö Links finds a different form of openness on an island in Lake Vättern. The nine-hole course occupies Visingsö's northern tip, with eighteen tee positions allowing the same greens to form a longer and more varied round.

Farther south, woodland and inland water become stronger influences. Hooks Golf Club contains two complete courses rooted in different settings: Parkbanan crosses more open ground by Lake Hookasjön, while Skogsbanan is set among denser trees. Isaberg also has two eighteen-hole courses, but its contrasts are drawn from Småland forest, the Nissan River and Lake Hammarsjön. Västra is rooted in woodland, whereas the closing section of Östra moves alongside the river and lake.

Taken together, these places explain why the county cannot be reduced to one course type. Golfers looking for exposed, sand-based terrain can turn towards Bankeryd or Visingsö, while Hok and Isaberg demonstrate how the game changes when trees, lakes and flowing water define the surroundings. Moving between those settings reveals how strongly the land changes golf across Jönköping County.

The way each course is arranged changes how the landscape is encountered. Sand carries one full route across open sandy contours. On Visingsö, eighteen tee positions return to nine greens from changing directions, so the island tip is seen differently on the second circuit. Hooks and Isaberg divide their terrain between two complete courses, allowing lake, woodland and river to shape separate rounds. Across the county, golfers can follow one continuous sandy course, revisit island greens from new angles or choose between full rounds rooted in different parts of the Småland landscape.

Sand Golf Club

Sand Golf Club near Bankeryd is an eighteen-hole inland links laid across naturally sandy soil. The course is open and rolling, with changing contours and visible sandy areas forming part of the landscape rather than added decoration. Its character comes from the ground itself instead of close woodland or formal parkland. Longer sightlines make the terrain easy to read from a distance, setting Sand apart from many of Småland's more enclosed courses.

Isaberg Golfklubb

Isaberg Golf Club has two eighteen-hole courses, Västra and Östra, yet each reveals a different side of the site. Västra travels through Småland woodland, drawing much of its shape from the trees and enclosed terrain. Water becomes more prominent on Östra, whose closing holes follow the Nissan River and Lake Hammarsjön. The facility therefore contains two complete rounds without making one feel like a repetition of the other. Woodland rooms and waterside passages give each course a distinct direction.
