Golf near Östersund

Three golf places near Östersund reveal different sides of the Storsjön district. Östersund-Frösö Golf Club has an 18-hole course and a separate nine on Frösön. The main course alternates between parkland and woodland on a south-facing hillside, with Lake Storsjön and the Jämtland mountains returning as a backdrop. The nine provides a shorter course at the same place.

Norderön Golf Club lies on a rural island in Storsjön and devotes the day to one 18-hole course. Broad natural views accompany the round and distinguish the island from Frösön's two courses. Sandnäset Golf at Dvärsätt offers something different again: 13 holes in undulating woodland and parkland, also with views over the lake and mountains.

The choice can therefore begin with both hole count and surroundings. Frösön suits groups wanting 18 and nine holes at one place, Norderön those drawn to a complete island round, and Sandnäset those for whom 13 holes feels right. The lake and mountain views connect the area, but terrain and hole count create three distinctly different golf days.

Norderöns Golfklubb

Norderön Golf Club has an 18-hole course on Norderön in Lake Storsjön. The rural island landscape and broad natural views surround the entire course, separating it from golf on the mainland. Every hole is played on the island, from the opening tee to the eighteenth green. Lake Storsjön and the clearly bounded setting give the round a coherent geographical character near Östersund. Its position within the lake is what makes the course distinctive.

Sandnäset Golf

Sandnäset Golf at Dvärsätt has 13 holes, more than a traditional nine but fewer than an 18-hole round. The undulating course alternates between woodland and parkland, with views over Lake Storsjön and the mountains. All 13 holes belong to the same numbered circuit rather than a nine with loose additions. The unusual hole count gives the golf day its own hole count, while the terrain and views place the course firmly within the Storsjön landscape.
